From the chaotic celebrations for the harvest to the opera gala, the Germans are taking advantage of every opportunity to have fun. During the winter, various festivals take place and large cities like Cologne, Mainz and Monaco celebrated wildly on Mardi Gras carnival. The rich musical heritage of the country is reflected in a number of festivals: some cities are focusing on a particular musician, as in the case of the Bach Festival in Thuringia or one dedicated to Richard Wagner in Bayreuth, in July, while others focus their attention on a particular genre, as happens in Frankfurt (March), Stuttgart (April) and Berlin (October) that engage in very lively jazz festival enjoying great popularity. Autumn becomes an occasion for great feasting to celebrate the abundance of crops, especially in the Rhineland, where during the party are shooting fireworks from barges moored in the River. The Oktoberfest is the biggest annual festival in Monaco, although around the city at this time is to remain stuck in the middle of the overwhelming crowd, the beer festival is an example of the downside of tourism that expression of German culture, and much more pleasant than this are the parties that the other cities named to the Bavarian beer. Christmas is deeply felt by families in Germany and is celebrated in a particularly extravagant in Monaco, Nuremberg, Essen and Heidelberg

THE TRIP
Frankfurt International Airport (www.frankfurt-airport.de) is the busiest in Europe after Heathrow Airport and receives many international flights. Berlin has two airports well, both international Tegel (www.berlin-airport.de) and Schönefeld (www.berlin-airport.de), also very busy . Other major airports are in Monaco (www.munich-airport.de) and Düsseldorf (www.duesseldorf-international.de). The largest airline in Germany is Lufthansa (www.lufthansa.de), which operates a vast network of international and domestic flights and is one of the world's safest airlines. Some low-cost airlines like Ryan Air, landing in a little 'out of hand, like that of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, near the Moselle, more than 100 km from Frankfurt.

If you start from other European countries is generally cheaper to travel by bus or train, the train than the bus is a more comfortable but more expensive and less flexible. The Eurail passes (www.eurail.com) are convenient if you plan to visit many places in a limited time. Europeans, then, can usifruire InterRail Global Pass (www.interrailnet.com), which allows travel in 30 countries except of residence, or Interrail cards to travel in only one country (again excluding residence) , but both options are worth only if you plan to travel many miles by train.

Buses are slower but cheaper (though sometimes their prices can not compete with the offers made by low-cost airlines). If you decide to travel by bus to rivolgeteti Eurolines (www.eurolines.com)

LOCAL TRANSPORT

Germany has an excellent transport network. The domestic flights covering a wide range of destinations but, unless you need to travel across the country, taking the plane is much faster trains.
The German rail network is rightly known as the most efficient in Europe. With 41000km of track, is the largest continent and covers over 7000 cities. Almost all trains are operated by Deutsche Bahn (for reservations and information www.bahn.de).
Forget the bus unless you're in an area badly served by trains. In fact, coaches are generally slower and less reliable, but in some rural areas may be the only way to move unless you have your own vehicle. Germany has no national bus company, so the country will find numerous companies engaged in local services. The frequency of service depends on the destinations and the days of the week. If you want to travel by bus please contact Deutsche Touring(www.deutsche-touring.com).

The German roads are in excellent condition with the 11,000 km of motorways (autobahns), which should be added to an excellent network of secondary roads (Bundesstrassen). The motorbike is another great way to move to Germany.
