WEATHER
The timing for a trip in Egypt depends largely on what you want to see. During the summer months (June-August) visiting Luxor in Upper Egypt can put a strain on the patience of many people due to hot weather, in winter is the best time to travel in these areas . Summer is the time when the Mediterranean coast is more crowded, but winter in Cairo can be very cold. Periods more suitable for a trip to Egypt so are spring and autumn, particularly from mid-April to mid-May when the weather is hot, but beaches are not crowded yet of unbearable number of bodies and the midday sun is not hot as in summer.

EVENTS
The Islamic calendar is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian (Western), then holidays come with 11 days in advance to the previous year. Ras as-Sana is the celebration of the new Islamic year and Moulid an-Nabi, which falls in July or August, commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. These holidays are celebrated with processions in the streets, lights, songs, drums and special desserts. Ramadan is celebrated in the ninth month of Islamic calendar and for Muslims is one of the most important events of the year. In fact, this holiday  remember the month of the revelation of the Koran to the prophet Muhammad and to better honor this day the faithful do not take food or water since early morning to sunset. At the end of Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr) the fasting is broken with many celebrations and much joy.

Eid al-Adhah is the year where is held the pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim must make at least once in their lives. The streets are decorated with colored lights and children are dressed in their best. In each village will be the Mahmal ritual during which pilgrims get carpets and blankets to take on the road. All this take place in April and May

THE TRIP
Cairo is well connected by air with several European cities, but to get there, available alternatives in are many and interesting. Vacation packages from travel agencies are selled at good prices including accommodation. This is a solution that ultimately may be less expensive than buying the ticket. If then you do not feel so excited and free, you can always trow the voucher for the hotel and use only the Air single pass.
Herodotus, the ancient Greek historian and traveler, described Egypt as "gift of the Nile." Images of the pyramids and the Sphinx, ancient Luxor and the Nile has captured the imagination of many ancient travelers drawn to the place, long time before the birth of Christ. Pharaohs, Greeks leaders, Romans, Arabs, Turks, English: each has left an imprint on the country to determine its current appearance.

Pharaonic Brick villages rise alongside the magnificent ruins, surrounded by buildings of steel, stone and glass. The Bedouins live in goatskin tents and farmers till the soil with simple tools used by their ancestors, while city dwellers wear long dresses or jeans or Reebok, and who is located in the city traffic faces carts pulled by donkeys and goats that roam freely in the streets. Cairo, a metropolis teeming of horns sounds from cars, portable tape recorders and "muezzin" calling faithful to pray, is a striking picturesque contrast. Egypt, however, is not just chaos and noise, but the dream of a green sea, a caravan of camels across the silence of desert or a long and lazy sail along waters of the Nile.

Interesting places
Cairo the heart of Egypt for over 1000 years and is the place where the great contradictions of the country are more evident,
Luxor standing on the site of ancient Thebes, Alexandria wich during Alexander the Great period, was the custodian of science, philosophy and knowledge, with its huge library of over 500,000 volumes,
Porto said
Situated along the Mediterranean coast at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal, Port Said is a city very young by the standards of Egypt, having been founded in 1859 by Said Pasha governor at the time of excavation of the Suez Canal,
Assuan the southernmost town in Egypt, was for centuries the gateway to the country to Africa and a booming market right on the crossroads of ancient caravan routes.
EGYPT INFO TRAVEL

The national airline is the Air Egyptian and Air Sinai also has good connections with different areas of Egypt. Until recently the the arrival target in Egypt was mainly in Cairo, but many tourists are now choosing to land at Alexandria, Luxor, Assuan, Hurghada (Al-Ghardaka) and Sharm el-Sheikh. Airports of these places called several companies that offer charter flights and monor airlines related with several European cities.

Other system to go from Africa to the Middle East there is a bus service from Aqaba to Israel passing or crossing the southern border of the Gaza Strip and some ferries from Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Crossing these boundaries is still very dangerous and complicated, before venturing into this type of travel, you should check with the embassies and consulates of the rispective countries in Cairo.

We also recommend that rely on travel agencies at: organize tours, including diving, safaris and cruises on the Nile and allow you to travel safely, avoiding any unnecessary risk (which is easy to meet if you are traveling alone or in pairs).

TRANSPORT
The Egyptian transport system, both public and private, is excellent. In the country the fastest way to travel is certainly the aircraft but must be considered, if it is not obliged, to look after the expenses and if there is very little time to spend. Otherwise, you can choose between bus, train, boat and even camels, donkeys and horses.

If you suffer from claustrophobia and a weak stomach to travel by bus or train, could be a problem, but these facilities are ideal for locals and to get an idea of the local culture. Buses run almost in every city of the country with the 5,000 km of railway connecting almost all villages in Egypt between Aswan and Alexandria.

There is also a taxi service from city to city. The car used for this purpose are generally the Peugeot 504, but now they are spreading Toyota minibuses too. They are usually parked near the bus station and waiting for customers. Before leaving the driver still waiting for the rack full (very full!).

We do not recommend hitchhiking, especially if you are single women (could be exchanged for prostitutes).
