HIGHLIGHTS
The world became aware for first time the existence of Denmark thousand years ago, when the Danish Vikings began to sail the seas and ravaged vast areas of Europe. Since then much has changed. These days, Denmark has been synonymous with civil society and is known for its progressive politics, the widespread tolerance and for its liberal system of modern state. Denmark is part of the "Schengen area". The most obvious consequence of the Schengen provisions for people is that they are no longer required to show identification documents when crossing the borders of the signatory states.
DENMARK INFO TRAVEL
WEATHER
Looking at the latitude, after all, Denmark's climate is relatively mild throughout the year. However in winter months, cold and short days are certainly not suitable to visit the country. From late April onwards, that travel agencies are beginning to offer it as a goal, keeping it on sale until October. May and June are still probably the best months, the landscape is enhanced by bright green fields of yellow flowers, the climate is comfortable and masses of tourists has not yet arrived. Autumn may be a good time, but not pleasant as the spring, the landscape changes it color from green to brown.

EVENTS
Very interesting in Denmark are hundreds of music festivals that follow each other almost without interruption, covering a wide spectrum of ranging from jazz, rock, blues, gospel, Irish music, classical, country and Cajun. They starts from the bonfires of Midsummer's Eve, in late June, the most popular music festivals remind the Roskilde Festival, the biggest rock event in Northern Europe, held in June and July, Midtfyns Festival Ringe, in early July , involving rock, pop, world, folk and jazz to international level.

THE TRIP
The vast majority of international flights to Denmark is part of the International Airport of Copenhagen (www.cph.dk). Some international flights, mostly from other Nordic countries and Britain, are calling instead for small regional airports in Århus ( www.aar.dk), Aalborg (www.aal.dk), Esbjerg ( www.esbjerg-lufthavn.dk) and Billund (www.billund-airport.dk).
From Germany there are regular bus connections with the peninsula of Jutland, which intensified during the summer. The Europe's largest bus network is operated by Eurolines (www.eurolines.com). There is a 10% discount for passengers between 12 and 26 years.

LOCAL TRANSPORT
Domestic airlines are the cheapest transport to major cities of Denmark, you can also enjoy significant discounts with some flights. Most of the towns are well served by regional bus lines, many of them have schedules that allow connections with trains. Denmark has a rail system of good quality and reliable, with reasonable rates and frequent rides.

As for the main routes, generally there is at least one train per hour available ( www.dsb.dk) operates practically all trains in Denmark. If traveling by car or motorcycle, you need to know that you drive into the right and that seat belts are mandatory, as the triangle of emergency.

The Danish Road Directorate (70 10 10 40) offers a telephone service that can provide useful information on traffic, road works, diversions and cancellations of ferries at the national level. Renting a car is relatively expensive in Denmark, so it is cheaper to rent one in Germany and then cross the border. Villages provides a network of bike paths, both inside the city, between one city and another, the bicycle is then very practical for travel. Ferries connect all the inhabited islands of Denmark, but perhaps more fascinating to visit them is by hiring a small boat.
